    Relationship woes

Sorry, Mark-BES, I thought I could convert Wazz's to A97 but it didn't work. We'll have to hope someone arrives who has that program. Cheers

    Relationship woes

I collect the EmpID with a look-up but it seems I cannot use a query to UPDATE tblThis Set tblThis.OneField = tblThat.AnotherField WHERE tblEmplThis.EmpID = tblThat.EmpID; And I assumed that must be because of look-up fields. (That an Update query won't work if the field is a look-up.) And...

    Relationship woes

Cheers, Neil, thanks. Yes, I have something like that. I was wondering if there is a way to put the parts of records from the old solitary table and insert them into the new tables using queries - or if it had to be done by hand (in a form etc).

    Relationship woes

Hi Wazz Many thanks for this and the trouble you have gone to. It is appreciated very much. What I've never understood is how the details go into these other tables. For instance, tblEmployeeEducation has the field EmpID. Is the ID of the EmpID put into the table one by one. If the db had...

    Relationship woes

Cheers, wazz, will take it away to study. Will report back. (My brother's just come back from KL. Very impressed he was.)

    Relationship woes

The database for workers works ok from a solitary table, tblEmployees. I want to make it a relational db. I’ve incorporated lookup tables. But I’m lost about what to do next – and if it should be divided further. I’ve studied many tutorials in relationships, but I don’t find one that...

    Associating a secondary form

Excellent, MoP. Many thanks. Good to hear from you. Cheers.

    Associating a secondary form

The main form (frmMain) is fed by qryMain. I'd like to put a memo field on a separate form (frmMemoField) to avoid cluttering the main form. Is there a way to ensure that frmMemoField offers the same record currently displayed on frmMain, please, Experts?

Counting the records in a report?

Yep, that's right - but not your cruel assessment of yourself, of course. It's really simple to confuse these things - page and report headers, footers and all.

    The form vanishes

Thanks, Taff. I have the auto-centred yessed. I suspect it's one of the little joys of XP which we have begun using recently. I hope someone else might have experienced it and found an answer. The only one I have found is to import everything into a fresh db. Cheers.

    The form vanishes

I am adjusting the form. I inadvertently touch the right click, or the mouse wheel, and voila! there the form isn't. The scroll bar has appeared, and is hard at the bottom. I try to pull the form back up, in case it has somehow shot far downwards. The scroll bar indicator comes up to the top...

    Robbing Peter ... in code

Good to hear from you The Mailman. Yes, point taken, and I will follow your advice. However, of course, there are times when 'slight adjustment' is a help. Thanks very much for showing the way. This is really useful. Cheers

    Robbing Peter ... in code

Can a report be coded to say if Field1 = Field2 take 1 off Field1 and add it to Field2, please? This weekly report is quite a politically sensitive area for the user and strangely both Field1 and Field2 often end up with matching numbers. It's just coincidence, but it is not desired. If they...

    SQL or somepin else

Eight groups - Gp1, Gp2, Gp3., Gp4, Gp5, Gp6, Gp7, Gp8 - are either involved in Occupation_1 or in Occupation_2. Every so often, I have to give the totals. (How many Gp1s in Occupation_1, and in Occupation_2 etc. How many Gp2s in Occupation_1, and in Occupation_2 etc etc.). I get by with a...

    Alert for a particular worker

Hi SJ Just to bring that particular character to the attention of the User whenever he arrives at the form. (I used an IfThenElse on the OnCurrent with a form on a timer to pass on the message. I imagine you Gurus would use something much more exciting - and hoped you might tell me.)

    Alert for a particular worker

The main form handles a zillion names/details of employees. Is there an out-of-the-ordinary way to show a unique form (as messagebox) when a particular worker's name appears, please?

    Expressions still on holiday

Thanks, SJ, thanks Sonny The Yuletide mixture must have been more potent than I thought. Much obliged, Gurus

    Expressions still on holiday

The main database is opened for another joyous year, but it doesn't want to wake up from its holiday. The expressions like, for instance =DateAdd("d",-28,Date()) don't want to know about 2005. Is there a way to bring the lot back to life? Happy new year to all.
