Eight groups - Gp1, Gp2, Gp3., Gp4, Gp5, Gp6, Gp7, Gp8 - are either involved in Occupation_1 or in Occupation_2.

Every so often, I have to give the totals.
(How many Gp1s in Occupation_1, and in Occupation_2 etc.
How many Gp2s in Occupation_1, and in Occupation_2 etc etc.).

I get by with a series of Access queries. But is this something that sql could handle in one or two operations, please, Experts?

Or how would an Expert go about it, please?

Look up Crosstab queries.

If both sets of information (Group, Occupation) are in the same table or can be JOINed into the same query, a crosstab of same will do exactly what you want, I think.

Thanks very much, The_Doc_Man. Will pursue that line. Cheers
