Adding new table to a split database

Go to the File menu on your front end, choose 'Get External Data', then choose 'Link Tables'. You'll get a window come up with files in, find your back end db, select it, then a list of tables will appear. Select the one you want a link to, then press ok. Then it should appear in your front end...

Form colours - what do you use?

After having a variety of colours on my forms, I did return to grey as it looks more professional IMO. But to make it look a little more colourful, I use a different colour for labels on each form. I don't use gifs or jpgs due to their size (not that big I know, but I'd rather not). :)

    Multi Access versions problems

You didn't sound rude at all (someone had made a comment on another thread - I was just explaining myself! But badly...) Take no notice of me - what I thought might have been possible, isn't, on further thought. Sorry I can't be of any use.

    Multi Access versions problems

I meant trying to automatically convert (don't know if it's possible - maybe do a search? Most things are possible if you know how (not me!)) on saving, not getting rid of 97 and making everyone use XP. Id didn't intend to sound completely stupid - there was a reason for my reply (Rich!!!)

    Multi Access versions problems

Different scenario, but I had two versions of a 97 FE going to a 97 BE. This was to overcome problems of users with different screen resolutions. Whilst having the 2 versions, I can't remember ever encountering any problems, so I presume that the trouble is 97/XP. Is it worth considering...

    Ms Access test question

I presume that you mean the database window, or do you mean the Access window (blue bar at top - can't remember its name:rolleyes: )? If you mean the database window, then go to 'tools' on the menu bar, choose 'startup', then choose the name of the form that you wish to appear as default in...

Allow data access through specific forms only

You might want to try using the Switchboard to do this. Do a search on here if you wish on 'Switchboard'. Alternatively, something I have done before is to set up a form with a couple of listboxes on it (I'm not keen on switchboards and loads of buttons). The first listbox lists certain...

    Help desperatley needed

I can't see any major problems with your relationships. Not having done a similar db, I don't know the best way to deal with availibility. It looks from your structure that you will have rather a lot of fields for the times, and these may well not be populated if the room isn't booked (therefore...

    Help desperatley needed

It is better to use a form to enter data as that way, you will only be dealing with one record at a time. If you just entered the data straight into the table, there is more chance for you or users to accidentally delete more than one record etc. Seeing that this is a school/college project, it...

    Saving reports as external file

Reached the site ok, thank you. It looks promising, and I downloaded and unzipped the first file, but I can't install it as I don't have administrative rights to add a printer. Oh well.

Thank you! I did try typing the address in before as well, but the same error came up. Weird.

passing record id from search form to main record form

If both forms have the field userid in them, you should be able to do this using the button wizard from the toolbox. Click on the button icon, put the button on your search form, and the wizard will start. Choose 'form operations' then 'open form' then 'next'. Then choose the name of the form...

    Nit picky wee bits ...

Is the Data Entry property on the form set to No? If so, try changing it to Yes and then you can only add new records, and then make sure that your navigation buttons are hidden. I hope that's what you were looking for.

Do you have join tables to link say the ClientId to ClinicID etc? If so, you can link the child/master fields of the main form and subforms, and then the info relating to the patient will appear correctly. Sorry if this isn't much help ( I don't know your set-up or what you knowledge is) - post...
