Ive searched the archives for some previous postings on this but found none so accept my appologies if youve seen this before.

Does anyone have experience of running an FE, BE Access solution that has different format FE's accessing the BE data?

For example....

10 Users with locally installed 97 format Front End databases, 10 Users with locally installed XP format Front end datbase all connected to a 97 format back end.

Ive been doing this recently and have been experiencing corruption problems that appear to originate with the XP users.
I have a process log, that captures all errors (Both in a table and via email notification to me) and each time the first error has been that the database is corrupt! No other error message!

Any help with this is greatly appreciated

Different scenario, but I had two versions of a 97 FE going to a 97 BE. This was to overcome problems of users with different screen resolutions. Whilst having the 2 versions, I can't remember ever encountering any problems, so I presume that the trouble is 97/XP. Is it worth considering converting the 97 BE to XP? Sorry I can't help any more.

Moving the BE to XP is not possible at the moment as the 97 users need to be able to access the data as well.

I meant trying to automatically convert (don't know if it's possible - maybe do a search? Most things are possible if you know how (not me!)) on saving, not getting rid of 97 and making everyone use XP.
Id didn't intend to sound completely stupid - there was a reason for my reply (Rich!!!)

Didnt think u were stupid tay! Sorry if I sounded rude, didnt mean to!!!

Unfortunately not able to convert everybody at once due to the number of users involved in the migration, about 1000+. The users migrations are staggered which means I need to have users logging in from 97 and XP machines.

We do have access to some Citrix servers running Office XP but these are limited and are going to be used by users of another of our Access systems so no joy there

You didn't sound rude at all (someone had made a comment on another thread - I was just explaining myself! But badly...)
Take no notice of me - what I thought might have been possible, isn't, on further thought.
Sorry I can't be of any use.
