using the combo box to look up record

I have a Table called staff details which has staff name and also a field called department!

Im my form i want to add a combo box sooo i can choose the department (eg finance) and then use another combo box to look up name of staff memebers who are in that department (ed lall staff in finance)

IE narrow the seach down!! it seems kinda simple....tried to do it, does not work tho!!!!!

any idea how to do it??
