Hello! I'm pretty new to Access, and I'm stuck on this problem.

I'm trying to make a report for different proposals submitted this fiscal year by our organization. In the report, I'm also including the proposals that are still pending from previous years. To do this, I've created the main report to detail the current fiscal year and a Subreport that details previous years.

The main report is grouped by the 6 departments, and I'd like the subreport to be grouped by the 6 departments as well. My problem is that each department on the main report is showing all 6 departments on the subreport. Is it possible separate them so that each department on the main report only shows that respective department from the subreport?

Example for clarification:
It looks like this:
2018 a
2017 a
2017 b
2017 c
2018 b
2017 a
2017 b
2017 c
2018 c
2017 a
2017 b
2017 c

I'd like it to look like this:

2018 a
2017 a
2018 b
2017 b
2018 c
2017 c

Please let me know if there's a way I can do this. Thank you!

Hi. Welcome to the forum. I don't have an example to try out but if subreports function like subforms, then you shouldn't need to group the subreport. Simply linking it to the main form using the Department field should auto group it for you.

And fleshing out what theDBguy said a bit, on the subreport control...

Link Child Fields: Department
