Im struggling with this:

I need to enter characters after a predefined mask.

(12345678)-

There can be any character and any number after this format.

I'm struggling in as much as the table only saves what I put in afterwards and not the "(12345678)-" bit.

As soon as the field has focus then "(12345678)-" appears and when they type it adds to the end.

The second section of the input mask controls whether the mask parts are stored. This says this

Second

Specifies whether Microsoft Access stores the literal display characters in the table when you enter data. If you use 0 for this section, all literal display characters (for example, the parentheses in a phone number input mask) are stored with the value; if you enter 1 or leave this section blank, only characters typed into the control are stored.

about that.

But if every field is going to have that prefix what is the point of storing it? I'd just prefix the data with it when you output it.
