2 decimal places

I have some data which appends to a table now in the table where the sourse is held i cant change the data structure at all. Heres whats happening a number like 5.543 is in my source and when it append to my new table it still appends in that format even though ive changed that field to number and specified 2D.P's can anyone help with this problem thanks
