I have a database for warranty repair. Me the user has to fill out form boxes. Model (Which is a combo box of computer models from one table which works. Serial number that gets updated to the warranty table once I hit create report. Issue which is a combobox that gets pulled from the Issue table and the Expire box which gets upated when I hit the create report button. The problem I having is I have 2 buttons one to click that allows me to add a common issue using a new forum that once filled out will update the Issue table and the Issue1 field, add to the IssueSel field in the warranty table and requery the Issuebox once done. The other is Add Manual Issue button that brings up another form that allows me to add a manual issue and puts it in the IssueSel field of the warranty table and but get added to the Issue table. The reason I do not use a inputbox is some of my issues are long and be can like this.

So its easier for me to use a form and a textbox instead of a inputbox.

How would I go about doing this? I have the 2 forms, One is called Common Issue and the other is Manual Issue.

From what I understand you wish to add every issue to the table tblCommonIssues.
I think that is a bad idea because there will be so many "non" common issues that you will end up with a huge list from where will be very hard to select something.
So, my advice is to NOT add every issue you encounter to the tblCommonIssues table.

But lets try to answer to your question "as is".
While you already wish to update the tblCommonIssues with any new issue, the Not In List event for the combo seems to be the appropriate approach.

On the other hand, if you will decide to not add every new issue to the tblCommonIssues, change the "Limit to list" property to "No" for your field (at table level) and for the combo at Form level.
This will allow you to insert manually issues without the need of a new form.

The Limit to list is fine but as i showed, some of my common issues are long and would rather type them is a text box in another field. My common Issues can include, bad hard drive, not powering on, no video signal or missing hard drive or memory. Once I get to work I will attach my database and you can see. Someone else told me about limit to list but that will not work for me well in my case.

Hmm I think I have a machine with 2007 here at work I can try and open it but it should work.

Enlarge (vertically and/or horizontally) the combo. You should see what you type.

I think I know why it does not work for you. Hold down the shift key as you open the db and fix the security warning, then relink the tables and you should be good to go.

The SHIFT key solved the issue, but thank you very much !
Anyway I don't understand very well why the OP was not able to do by himself what I suggested in post #6.
Is there other issue/question that I missed ?

I can do that with no problem but thats not really what I am looking for. Thanks for the help though
