Hi there

I'm an Access beginner and was hoping someone with experience could answer a question for me.

The majority of our office has 2007 but we have just had 3 new computers which have 2010. I have created a database in 2007 and wanted to know if the 2010 users will be able to input information into a form without causing any problems to the database.

I've researched it a little and it seems that it would be OK, but I just wanted to check with an expert!

Thanks, Alex:)

Access 2010 can and will open and allow users to interact with a 2007 database file.

Because you are indicating a multi-user environment, I am assuming that you have split your application into front-end and a back-end files. I also am assuming that each user will have a copy of the front-end file in a folder on their local machine and that the back-end file is located in a shared folder on your network and that this shared folder is accessabel by all other users and that these users have full permissions for the shared folder. There is an assumption that the tables in the back-end file are linked to the front-end file.

Hi Mr. B

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I will be splitting the database when it's finished and putting the front end on each machine.

I just wanted to make sure the users with the 2010 version wouldn't cause problems with the database.

Cheers, Alex
