5 Aluminum discs on the Espresso Maker Base?

5 lighter aluminum discs on the base. Any idea what these are for?

My neighbor that owns a machine shop says those discs are from the injection molding process.
At about 3 minutes 40 seconds into this youtube video you can see some of the manufacturing process.

Is that to be taken as a high one

It looks like a fastener for the base that is machined with the base after attachment. Note the groves align.
