I have a db I made a long time ago with a password. I want to change the password.
Here is the instructions I googled:
Unset Database Password dialog box

 1. On the File tab, click Info, and then click Decrypt Database.
 2. In the Password box, enter the database password. Important If you do not know the password you cannot decrypt the database.
When I click file, info there is no Decrypt Database. There is a “Unset Database Password”
When I click it, it says you must have the db closed and reopen it by clicking the file tab and use the drop down arrow next to the open button to get open exclusive. When I do that it asked for the password, which of course open the db. What am I doing wrong?

You need to first open Access, not the database.

Next, click FILE > OPEN

Navigate to the database you want to open and click it but don't click so it will open. Use the method in my next instruction.

Then when you go to open the file click the drop down here:

attachment.php

Then you should be able to click the UNSET database password button. You will need to input the current password in order to unset it.

edit: late and his picture says the same thing.

The database should be open in exclusive mode.

- The instructions ask you to open the database - probably by double clicking the file.

- Then you close the database, but keep MS access (the application) open.

- You then re-open the database in exclusive mode via the MS Access (application) file menu.

- Then you begin the decrypt operations.

What was the question?

Here is the hang up. When I open even just a blank db or my encrypted db and then close the db but still have Access open and I then click file I then no longer have info, it is greyed out. If I click open it will give a list with the encrypted db on it but the minute I click on it it wants a password. I can't get to the screen shot SOS sent me.

Here is somethng I need to mention. In my original post I stated A 2013. That is what I am using, but the file is not a ACCDB, it is a MDB. Would that make a difference?

Guys thanks for trying to help a dummy. Here is what I was doing wrong. I would open the app with the password, then close the app but keep Access open. Next I click open and I had the recent files showing and there was my app, but the minute I clicked on it it would ask for the password. What I finally figured out was that I had to go back to the directory and not use the recently open files. Thanks for helping.
