But Pat said Fox news is Cable News Network. Is that not CNN?
Col

A minor language distinction, Col. Both Fox and CNN are broadcast and cable based news networks. But...

Fox is A cable news network. One of many.

CNN is THE Cable News Network. Probably because CNN picked the name first so Fox has to use lower-case to identify as a cable news network.

And NO, they are NOT the same company. Not by a long shot.

It may have helped if that had been pointed out originally. Not everyone here is American and speaks the pidgin English some Americans use. Nor are we familiar with American phrases like 'cable news network ' when referring to non CNN companies.

In the UK, the phrase 'cable news network' refers only to CNN. It's not a phrase we use in the UK. Therefore, I read Pat's comment as being that Fox is a part or subsidiary of CNN.
It could have been phrased better, Americans forget that a regular phrase or word perfectly understood by Americans, can, in some cases be misunderstood by non American readers.
It's the same in reverse, we use words like 'fag' on a regular basis, but not in the same context as Americans use it.

Has anyone noticed Slow-Joe's eyes?

His right eye is a great deal smaller than his left. Maybe during one of Biden's facelifts, the surgeon dragged too much skin back to tuck behind his ear on the right a little too much? Would he be able to ask for a refund? Mind you, as he is Presi' he could demand one I suppose.

He's definitely had some work done, he appears to have more hair now than he did in the 70's and 80's.

Does anyone say "British Broadcasting Company"?
No. Its actually British Broadcasting Corporation. Its often referred to as 'the Beeb' or 'Auntie' because its part of the British fabric, like a family if you like.
The fact you got it wrong demonstrates what I was saying in my earlier post.
Col

No, it demonstrates that no one knows its actual name because everyone calls it BBC. Just like no one knows CNN's name except you.
I can understand that some Americans like you don't know what BBC stands for. But I can't believe that Americans don't know what CNN stands for.
So I'm afraid your comments must be viewed with scepticism. You live on one continent, I live on another, I speak English, you speak a strange format of English. Its different, just accept it and stop trying to stir things when there's nothing to stir. What is your problem? Maybe I can help. I know it's not easy for you being an American.
