We run Access 2010 on a MS Small Business Server over a Terminal server. I have written an extensive project in Access that looks after all of our operational functions within the company. Clients, Debtors, Matters, Financial transactions, Payments receipts etc, Trust and General Account reporting, Activity logs etc.
I run a Production version and a development version of the project.
When I log into the server and access the development version when at work I can compile and test and then move the new version of form, Query or report to the Production site and all is OK - I don't have any problems.
I have the address of both versions as trusted locations in the trust centre.

I do a lot of work at home (as we all do) I log in remotely to the terminal server to get access to my work desk top. When I make changes to any of the objects in the development area then move to the production area. If I go into the production version to test the changes - everything is fine.

When I get into work and log into the terminal server at my desk the object that I made changes to at home remotely will not work. No error message not a thing to tell me what's wrong. It just ignores the request to open a form or report etc.

To overcome the problem I have to open that same object in the production area at work make a minor change and save it and it will work.

I have researched the Trusted Sites info all over and really haven't come up with a solution.
When I login remotely I log into my desktop environment why doesn't the system recognise that as a trusted location.

Can anyone help - this is driving me crazy. Is there some little thing that I'm missing here.

Any help to over come this problem would be much appreciated

do you mange your own network, or do you use a third party?

maybe it's something to do with the way your home connection joins your network, and the way your file permissions get allocated.

These symptoms are bizarre. Is this definitely a Trusted Location problem or could it be something else? I have some questions.

Do all of the Forms and Reports in the database stop working or just the ones you edited from home?

Does a compact and repair clear up the problem?

If you copy the database to another location on your work PC do the forms and reports work?

How are you doing your work from home? Are you just accesses the files over the network and using the Access on your home PC or are you running the Access on your work PC through something like PC Anywhere?

If you send the database to someone else do they have the same problem with it?

Our terminal server at work is managed by a third party, it's our equipment housed at our site and remotely maintained by the third party.

When I log in from home I'm logging in to the terminal server so my profile should be exactly the same as if I was at work logging in from my desktop.

The only ones that won't work are the ones edited from Home(when you click on a button to fire up a form that I have changed from home - nothing happens - just like there'e no link on the button)

Sneuberg asked the question "Does a compact and repair clear up the problem?"
I made some changes to a form over the weekend, move the form from the development area to the production area and performed a Compact and Repair. Got into work this morning and it worked.

So tonight I will make changes to several forms and reports, compact and repair and see if that overcomes the problem.

I would still like to know exactly what the problem is - if anyone has any more ideas.

Thanks everyone

I would ask the third party if there is anything in the remote connection that might affect the file permissions (VPN?)
