Hi,
I am fairly new to Access -but trying to set up a database to track our customers activity.
I have all the customer info in the database, but how do I have a field where different dates can be entered and recorded.
For example, I want to be able to look up a customer, such as Joes Shop, and see that one of our Reps called on him on September 16th and again on October 24th and November 30th - and also see what notes were made each time.
Is that do-able?
Thanks

it sure is doable

What you need to do is create another table which you might call tblCustomerContact with fields such as:

Visit_ID (primary key)| Customer_ID | Date_of_contact (as date)| Rep_ID

Then what you would do is create a relationship with the customer_id and the rep_id with other tables in your database
You would then create another form to enter the contact date according to when they visited.

Then if you wanted to put this into a report you can create the report using the two tables accordingly

So you could have a report that says:

Mr Smith
1 Smith St
ANYTOWN ANYSTATE Postcode
Dates of Contact: Rep:
1/1/05 02 John Doe
2/1/05 05 Lima Bean
3/2/05 02 John Doe

Mr Citizen
1 Seniors Lane
ANYTOWN ANYSTATE Postcode
Dates of Contact: Rep:
12/1/05 05 Lima Bean

Hope this helps you a bit

Thanks for that Locomotion - I'll give it a try
