The User wants to delete files from a table - a job I had been doing.

Does anyone please have a supersafe way of letting this happen - say one record at a time, with some sort of safety valve?

ideally your user shouldn't be deleting records directly from a table. Why don't you create a form a set a command button there which deletes one record at a time. Moreover, when you try to delete a record, usually Access warns if you are sure to delete before it permanently deletes it (therefore this is some sort of safety valve i guess) before it deletes it.

1. Put a delete button on a form?

2. Copy the record to an archive table before deleting it?

Yes, that's what I was thinking of, Maxmangion. It must be a difficulty that many developers face. I'm hoping someone might reveal how they manage it. Many thanks.

That's a thought, Ken. Yes, thanks, I'll look at that. Not that many records are deleted each month so another table would be easily managed. Cheers
