I have an access 07 system, packaged with Access 07 Runtime. A new customer needs the system but he has a laptop with Windows 8 and with office 2010 installed. Is there anything that I should change before I make the installation? Can a system packaged with Access 07 Runtime work well in Office 2010? Will the references to Office programs auto update themselves? and will Activex controls work well in the Windows 8 environment? eg I have a windows media player activex control and I doubt windows 8 has windows media player. I dont have a computer running windows 8 at the moment so any assistance will be greatly appreciated

If you were going to open Access 2007 using Access 2010, the auto convert should be avoided Instead, open a blank copy of Access 2010 and import all objects from an Access 2007. It has been a while since doing that. Can't remember any major issues. It was a bigger issue for 2003 to 2007.

No experience with the run-time version.
This is my guess: The Run-time has a different extension? The 2007 run-time engine should probably be installed on the client. Then the association for the run-time must be set from the extension type to that engine.
Perhaps someone else has that experience and can comment.
