Hi,
I need help. Hope this is the proper forum.
I just bought a new computer, and have a problem with an Access 2003 application that works fine on another computer.
OS Windows 7, 32 bits, SP1
Office 2003, SP3
The same application works fine on my laptop, with exactly the same configuration, as far as I can tell: windows SP1 32 bits, Office 2003 SP3 after the security downloads.
No problem opening a regular database .mdb access file, but the application gives me the following error message: The expression on Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: A problem occured while .... was communicating with the OLE server or Active X control.
That was after that I changed the macro security to LOW ( before that it asked if I want to block unsafe expressions, which I may have answered yes or no ) . After changing the security of the macro to LOW, it did not asked me that question again.
If you have any bright ideas, please let me know.
Thanks
JP

Under Code Window, Tools, References, if you have the same DLL name checked (under different directories) you will have a lot of problems. Your screen shot shows you have the same DLL (msjet40.dll) but in 2 different directories, so I wonder if that is a list of references that are checked.

No, msjet4.0.dll is not listed explicitly as avaibable reference. I listed it from a search on my computer, because I read something about it on the internet, and thought it may be relevant.
Meanwhile I just found a solution ( not ideal, but it got me off the hook) to my problem:
My problem was probably due to the fact that at one point I must have answered “Yes” to the question “do you want to run only safe expression”.
What I did, is to reinstall Windows 7, Office, made sure to answer to open the application even though there may be unsafe expression, and then change the security of Macro to low.
Thanks again for your help

P.S.
Since I consider the problem closed, is there a way to close the thread?
(Sorry for the trivial question, I am new to the club)
