Hi there,

I am facing a strange problem with Access 2003 . Every time i open the access it says please wait while intallation is under progress and the reinstall the ms access.
If i open any database directly clicking on shortcut it gives me error tht specified path does not exist, when i click ok on error message it do its reinstallation stuff and then open the database perfectly..
Does anybody have any clue like what is going on?

Thanks
Danny

Thanks for reply..

On the machine....no there is no other version of MS Access.
But the access databases trying to open is of different version and opening it via shortcut.

Now question is if this issue is because of Access version...teh how it was working till today. And why it just stopped working today only ...why not right from the first day.

Thanks
Danny

It sounds like the database is being opened by another version of Access and then when you try to open it, it needs to run the setup. But, that USUALLY only happens when you are opening the file from a computer with multiple versions of Access. For example, when I open databases at home, I have 2000, 2003, and 2007 installed. If I run 2003 to open databases, then try using 2000 to open one, the installation window pops up for Access 2000. If I then try to open an Access 2007 database with 2007, it pops up to install 2007.

Have you tried seeing what would happen if you tried copying the file to your desktop and opening from there. Do you still get the same error message and install? You may need to uninstall and reinstall Access (doing a custom install and selecting all options).

No, its working fine on the other machines.
I am going to reinstall the access again.
Thanks for reply

I'm not sure if this is the same problem, but it sounds similar to something I ran into. On my machines at work, our IS separtment Imaged the machines and every office program started as if it needed to reinstall the program. We were able to fix the issue by pointing the program to the office install CD. Once we did that, the message no longer came up and we did not need the install cd to start the program.

I've recently installed Access 2003 on the same computer as an existing installation of Access 2007. And I experience the behaviour as Bob Larson describes.

Is there a way to remove the re-install process or do we just put up with it?
