I had to move everything to a new laptop and at the same time go from Windows XP to Windows 7 64b. I have legitimate copies of Office 2007 and Access 2007. When I open a database it opens as read only and many items are greywed out. It says that I must have a legitimate copy of Office. I even tried uninstalling Access to reinstall, but it says that it can't find Access to uninstall it. I did a repair on Access which went successfully, but it didn't solve the problem.

Try uninstalling Office completely and doing a fresh install.

Welcome to AWF by the way :)

I just finished doing the reinsatll of Office. I get the same information when my mouse scrolls over save as for example. It says I must have a licensed copy of office. And it still opens the databases as read only.

Thanks for the welcome.

Does it happen with any other application? Try it with Word and Excel.

When I open a document in Word is shows as Compatibility Mode whatever that means. It appears that all functions are available. I don't use Excel so I don't have any documents to open in it.

It sounds very much like a Windows Registry problem. Post your question in the Windows section of the forum and I'm sure there will be someone to help.
