The question is in the title really.
I am creating a database which is stored on a shared network drive. Occasionally the database runs really slow when I'm trying to create reports - at first I thought this was a problem with my database but I have opened several backup versions from last week(when it was working fine) and they are now all doing the same.

Is this a common Access problem or should I speak to the network Admin? Is there a solution?

Thanks for that, I have tried shortening the file and folder names but this hasn't helped. I have asked the Network admin to have a look if there are any potential probs with the network drive and I am also going to do a repair on Access.

I've just tried moving my database to my own computer but it's still having the same problems so I think maybe it's not the network causing the problems. :(

I read through this...does the decompile method work as well as it states? I have a 65mb FE and it can take awhile to load up.
It is certainly worth a shot. Remember, do it to a backup first.

CarysW:
You could easily be having a problem with your local printer or printer driver based on your OP of the issue. Have you tried a different printer? Do you even have a local printer defined? For Access reports, it is important that you have a local printer defined, even if it is never attached.

Thanks RuralGuy, I do have a local printer attached but it's not the default - does this matter? I have had a few problems with the driver in the past(it's an 'all-in-one' and it no longer responds to pressing the buttons on the unit for scanning etc).
I didn't realise that a printer issue could cause a problem with a database! I will have a look at reinstalling the driver for this printer.

The key points from the link I provide I would be sure to follow these sections:

Subdatasheet Name property set to [Auto]

Track name AutoCorrect

Only when working with reports. The driver is necessary in order to display the report.

I've reinstalled the driver but still have the same problem. :( I finish work in 2 mins so can leave the blasted thing behind for the night!
Thanks for your help.

I will have a good look at this tomorrow.
Thanks for your help.

Have tried this stuff, it's still not working. I've just copied and pasted all of the sheets, reports and macros over to a new database and it's still doing it - I've 'repaired' Access and reinstalled my local printer - does this suggest that my data may be corrupt somewhere?
