Has anyone used DPix Image Control to place images in an Access table? I found the software on the Microsoft Marketplace. But before I buy it, I would like to hear from someone who has actually used it.

Thanks,

Cherry

Cherry,

AFAIK, You can download it and try it before you buy it!

DBPix is good for placing images in MS Access databases.

You can try it for free, as well as AccessImagine. This 2 addons are compatible with each other and you can check which one is better for your needs.

Now I have lost the url to the web pages for the software. I searched all Friday afternoon and have started again this morning. Does anyone know where I can find the software?

Thanks.

The above post included it in his post (Spamming). However why the need to add images to your database? you should be using hyperlinks not embedding the images. Especially if there is a lot of images.

But why pay for something that can be achieved for free, epsecially if the app is to be distributed.

Thanks for all of the help. I have found the software I was originally looking for, as well as the AccessImagine.

I am trying to avoid using the external links because I don't believe that my users will tolerate all of the steps involved in scanning the documents, placing them in folders, naming them, and then putting the links in Access. It is possible that I am missing something in my understanding of the process required.

Part of the problem is that our scanner does not allow naming and placing of files as they are scanned. It automatically gives them a sequence number and places them in one single directory. (Actually, I have two applications where the ability to view images of documents authorizing transactions would be of significant value. The one I'm working on right now is small, but the other one is huge and would required the ability to view thousands of new documents each fiscal year. The work also has to be performed in a really fast-paced environment.)

Suggestions are much appreciated. I'm not so confident with my own knowledge in this area not to be willing to look at alternative approaches.

Thanks,

Cherry

Sure, but some ppl need out-of-box solution, because usually it is more simple and user-friendly.

Clmarks, both addons allow scaning images right to database. As well as pasting from buffer and dragging from explorer.

Dbpix is a very good product. The cost is developer based and can be distributed free of charge.

I don't store images within a table but everytime else is really good. One thing I like about dbpix is that I interrogate the image and find out each images aspect and size. This is essential to monitor images being uploaded to the web.

Dbpix was essential as I was handling 16,500 images since Access 1997 and with OLE I would have blown away the database due to the size restraints. Besides the low res jpeg images take up 650MB and the data 100MB.

dppix is available at www.ammara.com
