I need to know about this limit...

I have heard that Access 'can't handle' more than a thousand records in a table. But then I have run them with over a couple thousand with no problems...

Can someone clear this up for me? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance...

I have never heard of there being a limit of 1000 records in a table, it wouldn't be much use as a database if there was. In fact I have a table which has about 8 million records and although a bit slow to work with have no other problems with it.

If you want to check details of Access's limits look in the help file under 'specifications'.

In AC97 and earlier, look up "Limits"
In AC2K and later, look up "Specifications"

Several of my child tables have way more than 1000 records.

Now, if the record is big enough, you could run into the 2000-character limit easily. Particularly if you have memo fields. But there is no 1000-record limit in Access itself.

The limit is not based on the "number of records" ... it is limited to the "Size of the database file".
