Hi All,

This is my problem -

My customer has Access programs that work on their Windows 98 OS PC's, but when they try to use them on Windows 2000 OS PC's they will not work.
The programs I believe were originally written in Access 97 and now they have Access 2000 on the PC's.

By not working I mean the following -

The Access program allows them to enter a document name and then the file opens in Word - BUT - when they use it in Windows 2000 it does not open the document at all. It says file not found in Windows 2000 and the file does exist.

** The reason they have Access opening files is that Access keeps track of them for auditing purposes.

Now here is something that I want to mention. On PC's that were upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 the programs work.

Can anyone here tell me what is missing from 98 to 2000 that would do this.

Thank you very much for your time.

MS Access 97 and MS Access 2000

If you want to use MSAccess 97 database on both PCs with Windows98 & Windows2000 the best way is to create a Front end Database in MSAccess 2000 by importing all objects except Tables. Link all the Tables from Access97 database to 2000 Version Database. You can work with the data without problems in both versions of Windows.

Yep, sounds like references to me.

If you are converting the front-end from Access97 to Access2000 then it may update the references automatically and not show them as missing.

eg, The old db has a reference to Word 97 (aka Word 8). The new db, after converting, may have a reference to Word 2000 (aka Word 9). But the functionality of the two libraries may be different, meaning that what worked in 8 doesn't work in 9.
