Hello again,

Just wondering if anyone knew about Access certifications. Which ones are worth while, respected, etc? Just curious.

I also live and work in China so something that I could do online would be greatly appreciated :)

Hope everyone is well.

Worthwhile? See what your own organization would accept.

A couple of years ago, my wife when for something called MOUS because she was working as a software instructor. Microsoft Office User Specialist (or some such acronym) includes Access but it has other stuff included. Beyond that, I'm not aware of anything you could use for certification.

Last time I looked around, there are no specific certification, and I would think MOUS certification isn't that terribly helpful. That said, if you really want to have some kind of certification, I would look at SQL Server certification- even though it's not Access, it still deals with several issues that you will face developing with Access/Jet and thus can bring it over to Access, and it's quite common for folks to have Access as front-end to SQL Server.

I dislike computerized tests such as these. They don't test your understanding of the subject or your ability to create a database. All they do test is your knowledge of the interface and your ability to do things as they expect you to do them. For example, if you are asked to resize a text box, dragging the box will produce a wrong answer even though it produces the correct results. The only "correct" answer is to use the size-to-fit menu option. I took one of these tests expecting to ace it and I failed. I don't think I've failed a test since my Junior year in high-school where I couldn't manage to get 100% on the valence test (which was the ONLY passing grade). I never got more than 2 wrong out of 100 atoms and they were never the same 2 but for some reason memorization tasks such as this are too much for my pea brain.
