I've created a query that gets the data that I need for the data that I need to be charted... Now I'm trying to create a chart in Access from the Reports area to be based on that query...I've done the chart ..when I go to print preview the chart is shown (although i'm not so happy with the quality of the chart options, etc but let's omit that for the time being)..however when I see the chart in design view, I get some data that has got nothing to do with my data..Data that says "East, West, North" ...what the hell is going on here?!!

Does any of you guys have any idea on how to manage charts in Access, or is there a better way how you would go round it? I thought about exporting data to Excel, but on the other hand I thought that it would be better to keep everything in Access since I've got everything here..

any feedback appreciated :)

btw, FYI, i'm using Access 2000, maybe it's not the best but this is what I've got installed at work!

I was having this same problem at the start of the week, now touch wood it seems to have gone. The only thing i can think that ive been doing different is instead of using the chart wizard ive opened a new report in design view and selected approriate query, then dropped a chart onto the report and used wizard from there. This seems to have worked but it is probably pure coincedental, think the charts are still a bit buggy because my X columns keep changing from a percentage to a scientific format - simply fantastic

Just about every time I do A chart I use the code you will find in the second post in This Thread (specifically problem/solution #2 within post#2). Hopefully that thread will shead some light on your problem.

hi guys,
thanks for your replies and will keep in mind...
but since i couldn't figure out at that time, i decided to export the data to Excel, run pivot table and chart and save the chart as a GIF file..then import that as an image in the Access report...however now i'm having a little issue with the colours in the report since Access doesn't seem to recognise the GIF quite well...you can have a look at my other thread here

Thanks again
