Hi

On certain machines when the user clicks a button the click command performs an openreport event procedure in print preview. Access then crashes saying it encountered errors and will close. When I change the click command to open the report by a moacro the report opens fine.

I've already installed SP3 but no difference.

Any suggestions please!!?

If VBA fails and the macro succeeds, you have maybe a few places to look.

1. The arguments of the macro vs. the arguments of the OpenReport might be different. Look at the differences.

2. Look for missing references. (If you are not sure, search this forum and Access help for topic "References" )

Thanks Doc Man

But would this be the case if the database is working fine on other PC's? Surely it would need to be a PC or Access problem rather than a DB problem?

Thanks

Dave

References are machine-specific because they are in the registry. They are in the CURRENT_USER "hive" of the registry and cannot be transmitted from machine to machine so easily.

The other factor (macro vs call arguments) probably doesn't apply. I'll agree with you there.

One more thought: Is there is memory-size or disk-size difference (smaller than the others) on the machine that fails?

If you run out of virtual memory space, that could do it in a heartbeat.

For a novice like myself is there any quick way of checking the references or memory/disk size on the problem pc's?
