Access crashes when I open a second database

If I already have an Access database open (sometimes I've forgotten about it), when I try to open another one from my desktop, it maximizes the first Access window, and then my computer freezes--I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and close both of them through Task Manager to continue.

I have never seen this happen on anyone else's computer. Does anyone know what is causing the problem? It is not any one database; the problem occurs no matter which are opened.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard of that one. Have you considered just doing a Reinstall/Repair on the DB? Put in the MS Office CD that has Access, and one of the options will be "Modify" or "Repair". Select that one and let it go. It sounds like something got corrupted, but without being able to recreate the error, there's really no way for me to figure it out.

It used to happen to me a few years ago on my home desktop PC, but I can think for the life of me how I fixed it. I think I decided in the end that it was a PC problem (not enough RAM or something) and it was time to upgrade anyway.

Not much help I know.

Dave
