We have upgrade from a Win98SE to WinXP SP1 in a peer-to-peer enviroment and have client pc's are a mix of windows e.g 98, me & xp.

The machine we upgrade is a server only in the case it holds our access database which user all access via the network we are now finding the more user than use the database the slower it gets.

We did not have this problem when using Win98SE

Can anyone help. now very urgent

You state that its a peer to peer network, but have a database server. How exactly is it networked. Why did you upgrade it in the first place. I think if some basic restructuring of the network environment were to happen, you would see signifigant increases in speed. Has anyone ran any diagnosis on the traffic of the network? There are too many factors that need to be narrowed down. I would start with the network structure, then go to the MDB and see if something might be amiss in the design. What you asking for will only result in mere suggestions, when actually you need to run a more in depth analysis/diagnosis.

Network Structure

Running TCP/IP and NetBEUI - some older machine will not find computers on the network without it.

Had to upgrade as old Win98 SE machine crashed - so bought a new machine which had WinXP loaded.

The machine is only a workstation that act's as a server to hold work files
