I have a couple of access97 apps which leave an empty access window open when I quit. I thought this might have been due to unresolved references but I can't find any. Any ideas?

First thing that comes to mind is, do you have an code in either general or class modules that opens a recordset or a new workspace or a file?
If so, you need to make sure that you always close what you open. Otherwise you get into a process rundown state where you can't close anything and can't get rid of anything.

Thanks for ideas, I finally tracked down the reason, was due to a reference to another loaded form in the format "Forms!frmOrder.exchangerate" - changed it to Forms!frmOrder!txtExchangeRate ...and wheeehey!...all now shuts down!....can't say I totally understand the reason for this though, except maybe it had opened another instance of the form?
