Access Glitch? subform question

Newbie question here:

In design view when I try to add a subform to my main form, I just get a blank control.

I cant get to the form properties of the subform.

Is this a glitch? this has not happened in my other projects. Or am I missing something (which is not unusual or uncommon for me,lol)?

Usually when a subform/report shows as an empty box it is because the subform/report is opened in design view or form view elsewhere at the same time. Just close all the forms and open the subform/report in designview by itself. I generally find this method easier anyway, especially with reports where the subform/report may be too small to work with in situ.

Thanks for the reply. I am beginning to think it is a glitch.

I created another project with only one form and tried to place a subform onto it and it does the same thing.

Does the subform control actually have a subform source object?

A silly question perhaps but if it isn't actually assigned to a form that would produce the behaviour you describe.

Maybe the control wizard is switched off and you're not used to it not automatically asking these questions.

Do you have any scroll bars showing on the Main Form.

If you do then scroll until you find the Sub Form.

You nailed it Rainlover! The sneaky little &*%$ was clear down at the bottom. As you can see, I am a Access newbie, lol.

The other thing to try while in design view is:

Show the Toolbar "Formating (Form/Report)

There will be a drop down selector in the top. Use this to find the name of the object. If you did not name it it could start with "Child"

Or you could simply use the Tab button to tab through all objects until you find it.

For testing add a sub manually. Do not use the wizard.

i have found occasionally the subform shows up blank in design mode. i think often it is because the form is open, but sometimes not.

i think i have opened the subform directly to make changes, and after a while it seems to work again normally

sorry to be vague, but it has only been a glitch, and hasnt been a major inconvenience.
