Greetings all.

This is a wierd questions to classify so I figure this would be the best place for it.

I'm currently setup with the following:

Front End - MS Access 2003 on a PC running Win XP

Back End - Sybase 10 residing on a Linux server

I am connecting to the Sybase backend via ODBC using the DataDirect 4.0 Sybase Wire Protocol . Whenever I attempt to link or import tables into Access I get an error message ("Reserved Error" - see attachment). There is no explanation for this error and it has goofy code (-7784). Has anyone come across this? When we had the sybase backend on a Unix box, we had no probs, only on Linux. Would this be a driver issue?? Scratchin our heads here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

Tim

Can other products such as Excel and VISIO access the Sybase database on the Linux server? I doubt that you have an Access problem. It is more likely an ODBC driver problem.

That was my first inclination as well, that there was a problem with the driver. As far as other products go, no other products are being used in conjunction with Sybase. Other than the driver listed, no of any place where I can get alternative drivers? Been scouring the net and have not had much luck.

That doesn't mean that you can't try to access the Sybase database from Excel does it??

Yes, I am able to connect and import successfully using Excel. I don't have
Visio so I can't test with that.
