I have an Append query which used to work perfectly and is now malfunctioning. For some reason that I cannot seem to find, one of my queries will no longer append a memo field correctly into an existing table. Instead of the text in my memo field I get a couple of weird looking symbols appended into my table. All the other text, date and number fields are fine, it is only the memo fields that are affected. I have an older version of the same database that works correctly and a newer version that a client sent me that is having the problems. I can't just send the working version to my client because she has added information to the database. So, I tried to import the up-to-date tables from my client's database into the older database that is working correctly. But then the older one starts malfunctioning the exact same way. Which makes me think there is something wrong with the tables and that is causing the problem. But whatever is wrong I cannot see by examining the tables, looking at the formats, settings etc. They look exactly the same except that the newer version (the one that won't work) has more records than the older version that I have. Does this make sense? Has anyone had this happen before?

Until you mentioned that your older database may be having problems, I assumed that you may have had problems related to this article:

Error Text

The symptoms and diagnosis was as follows:

CAUSE
You may experience this behavior with a table that has a self-join and Memo fields, and has referential integrity enforced.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, change the Memo fields to Text fields or move the Memo fields into a separate table, and then use a 1:1 relationship.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you post the query in question, as well as give the datatypes of the affected fields?
