While I feel the pain of the MS Access team here, it is quite frustrating to have this public face so unhelpful.

In some ways, it's "Damned if you do, and damned if you don't". They get slammed for posting unrealistic or unmet timelines, and they get slammed for not posting until they can be sure they have realistic and achievable objectives.

That's the way they make a lot of their decisions. People complained about the security component of pre-2007 access. It was really confusing and so people frequently set it up wrong. No one said it was bad. So rather than fix the interface, they canned the feature.
