Will splitting the database (or any other method available) allow the users to take a copy of the database on the road with them where they do not have access to the Back End or the Server and then link back up when they come back from a road trip?

If not, are there any other solutions to this sort of problem that are currently reliable and deployed?

Thanks in advance :)

We use a local copy of the data (usually a subset only for the area the person is working in). We then use replication to sync back up with the main DB when they are back on the network, or even via dialup (really dang slow).

Sounds like the perfect solution - can you give me a little bit more detail on the fundamentals. I'll start reading through the help files too :)

We typically use Sql or Oracle, not Access, but I know nothing stopping you from using Access. I would read up on Replication and see what fits your needs, then move towards that model.
