I have a Sybase DB that contains quote information that needs to be entered into our SQL Server 7 DB. Currently I have and Access DB that sites between both Sybase and SQL7 and links all the tables together and I can then create queries and so on and so forth, between both systems. Up to now there's no problem, but what I need to know is, would I be better off migrating this Access DB to SQL and skipping that whole step.

Is this even possible?

Access XP - Windows 2000 Pro
SQL Server 7 - Windows 2000 Server
Sybase - Windows 2000 Server

For what purpose is the Access DB in between those? Sql can talk directly to Sybase as long as the proper drivers are loaded on the Sql box. You could use either DTS to move data between the two, or even setup a linked server and access the tables directly.

I was thinking of using a DTS package for this. I guess that's what I really needed to know.

How hard is it too create one of these data warehouses without using DTS Wizard? Do you have a good instructional website that could show me the starting point?

I'ver read the article on SQL Server 7.0 Data Warehouse framework, but I need to do a little more research if I wanna use this DTS method for transferring information between platforms.

Thanks for the reply, if you have any information regarding DTS and creating packages that would be appreciated.
