Access/Trust Center problem

We just migrated to Office 2007 and an Access program I was able to access from a desktop setting I can no longer use. The same program is on a drive I am able to access from the road and that drive appears on my "Trusted Locations" list. I can use the program that way but need to use it from the desktop icon.

When I use the program from my desktop icon the database screen appears, then goes blue screen with only the name remaining on the top.

(The rest of the top shows clipboard, font, rich text, sort & filter, window, find under the home tab but none can be used.)

Anyone know how I can place my entire C drive on this Trusted Locations list, or otherwise be able to cure this issue?

I don't understand why you need the application in your Desktop. Can't you put it in a proper folder, set that folder as a Trusted Location, and just have a desktop shortcut to open the application in its correct location?
 
The database application we use in Access was emailed to me. From that email I placed in on the desktop.

Are you suggesting I put it into a folder then make that folder a trusted location?

I just tried that - put it into a folder on my desktop, made the folder a trusted (desktop) location. Open the application. I can see the page then it disappears, as before. Can't get it back.

It is no doubt possible to set the Desktop itself, or a folder on the Desktop, as a Trusted Location in Access. But this seems to me, quite frankly, to be a very loosey-goosey arrangement. My question is whether you can put the application onto a regular folder within your C: drive, instead of in the Desktop. The Windows Desktop is not intended to be a repository for applications.
 
Okay, went into C:\, opened a new folder. Moved the application into the folder. Went into Trusted Locations and put the folder (and checked subfolders) into it.

Opened the program. Access loaded, the application opened, then the application disappeared into blue screen again. The application name remains at the top of the page but there remain no choices but to close the application.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm sorry, I don't know what the problem can be.

But it now appears we have eliminated it being a Trusted Locations issue! :)

Did you actually convert the application to Access 2007 format, or is it still an earlier version trying to run under Access 2007?

Are you able to zip and attach the application to your reply here? Remove any sensitive data first? Someone may be able to do some testing.
 
I didn't covert it for 2007. How does one do that? I thought 2007 was backwards compatible.

The application is on another machine. I'll try to zip it & see if I can attach it. Might be tomorrow. Thanks!

Yes, you should be able to open an MDB from an earlier Access version in Access 2007. I was just trying to get a more complete picture of what we're working with.

ANyway, yes if you can let us have a look, I think that will be the next step. Thanks.
 
The application is on another machine? I don't get it?

I'm not on the machine I an using on this forum so I can't try to zip & attach it. It's on my work laptop. I'm on one of my home pc's.
 
It seems that the application has some prefs set to hide controls.

Double-click the MDB file, and then quickly press left Shift key and hold it while the application starts.

Max - Just as an FYI for you, you don't have to quickly hold the Shift key, you can actually depress it before double-clicking on the file and then just continue to hold it until the db opens. Another way would be to hold your shift key down, right-click on the file and select OPEN. (just an alternate method if holding the shift key down when double clicking doesn't work for you, which is possible in Vista and Win7, if I remember correctly.)
