I have been using access 2000 pivot tables to retrieve relatively straightforward m by n tables with a count in the body. These are simple to define (drag row and/or column variable and various relevant filters appropriately and then drag the data field, which automatically chooses sum or count). By double-clicking the data variable, I am able to change the way it aggregates.
However, with Access xp, this no longer works ... and I am really frustrated! Yes, I can drag row, column and filter fields OK, but when it comes to the data field, I am completely mystified!! When I drag a variable into the body, by default it lists the values ... and there is nothing I can do to change this to a count.
To summarise, can anyone help me get the data variable to show a count (preferably by default). 98% of my use of Access is interrogating databases to produce counts in m by n tables.
Thanks (in anticipation) ...
