I have 4 computers on a network. 3 have access2000 one has access97 the one with 97 can't open the the shared documents with 2000 database fills.

Access 2000 uses a new file format that cannot be opened into Access 97. I think you can share the databases if you split them with a front-end and a back-end and have the back ends in Access 97 format, while leaving the front ends in their original format. Can someone else confirm their experience with this? Thanks.

97 and 2000

yeah you can use different front ends...just ensure the back-end is 97...you can convert the 2000 backend to 97 (tools menu)

We have this situation as a routine. Usually, the performance of the 2kFE with the 97BE is poorer than 97FE to 97BE, but at least it works.

I solved it.... I just put Access2000 on all the computers made it simple thanks for the help. Chris
