There are many good reasons to split code out into a custom function. Being able to use the pc of code it in other places in your database is one of the better reasons! You can use the function in other modules, queries, reports, etc.

Did you ever get your original problem worked out?

Just about.

Thanks to your help I can now generate the next product code and have used an IF ELSE routine to generate a ABC0001 code for new suppliers.

I am now trying to get the new product code into the table where it belongs then that section is done. I have a few ideas to try just as soon as I get time.
