Adding attachments per record...?

Hello!

I have a tricky task I've been asked to work on (tricky for me at least) and hopefully I can get some advice.

I have a form that creates a record for each mail item received. For each record, my staff scans a cover letter of the item and directs it via e-mail up to higher staff. Now, what I'm trying to do in order to simplify this process is allow my staff to upload the scanned image (always as a PDF file) to said record, thus allowing the higher staff to view this cover letter within the database.

Since our company has a multi-user network drive that can store numerous documents, I'd like to create a hyperlink per record to this network folder in order to avoid expanding the DB size.

I hope to get this hyperlink to evaluate an expression using the default folder's path and the record's ID number. So for each record, the expression would change depending on the current record's ID number.

W:\Shared Folder\Scans\Mail[ID Number].pdf

Is this possible?
