I have a database that keeps track of PDF files. The links to these files is stored in a hyperlink field. As new PDF files come out, usually in email, we save them to the PDF folder.
In the form, add new record, we can right click and choose to add a hyperlink to the PDF.
My question is how can we only display new files added to the folder, or only newest dates. The hyperlink edit feataure only displays the files names, not the dates. The solution would allow us to only go to the files rescently added and minimize the chance of a user adding a duplicate form link.

Any suggestions would be great.

A Couple of Workarounds?

To force uniqueness you could try setting an Index on your hyperlink field.

In table design view, display the Indexes popup (menu choice: View, Indexes), on the first blank line on the Index grid, type a name for your index (h_Link, say), then in the next cell along, select the name of the field that contains your hyperlinks. Press[F6] to move into the properties section at the bottom of the popup and choose -

Primary: No
Unique: Yes
Ignore Nulls: No

Then close the indexes popup and Save the table.

In the Link to File popup - it pops up from the Edit Hyperlink box (Browse For: File…) - click on the View selector in the popup's toolbar (it's one to the left of the Tools selector, which is last on the list). Choose List. You should now see dates. The popup should appear like this next time you call it up.

Other than these teaks, you may find that you need to build your own custom file browser. This could be a bit tricky, but there's a good example at

Thanks

I'll give it a try.

Thanks,
