Hi :)

Im making a DB and basically i have a registration form where they fill in their details..

I was wondering if anybody knew how to do the bit where the user types in their postcode and a list of possible addresses come up

any advice would be great :))))))))))))))))))

How about a few more details?

Consider the following:

I'm currently in Florida, in a condo of about 200 units. There are about 20-30 such condos within a half mile or so. In addition there are a number of streets with private houses and apartment buildings. Less than a mile away, across 2 major thoroughfares there are other apartments, private houses, numerous side streets with various buildings. All that to say we are all in the same zipcode.

So what level of detail exactly do you think you will get by entering a zip code?
I'm attaching a picture of the zip code.

its just based on the street or road.. not too sure about US but here in London lets say i live in BW74 0SF then that will just bring up the road containing that postcode... in lonon as far as im aware the postcode only ever brings up houses/flats on that postcode for my case if makes any sense at all

Well you would need a list of Postcodes and combined streets.

You can purchase this information at your "local" postal service, though its usually quite expensive.
Or you can start creating/building your own, that you can query to find street names in that postal code.

Once you have a "source" it is a simple DLookup or Select statement to bring up the (possible) street(s).

Postal code "validation" can vary in usefullness across countries.
Here in the NL one postal code is only part of a street, usually (guestimating) 10-20 actual houses (up to a 100 or so appartments), which means you can even validate if the given postal code actually contains the house number as give by the user.
1066HD for example holds housenumbers 108 thru 172 (only the even numbers and each nubmer being a seperate appartment)
If a user enters housenumber 80 with that postalcode it is invalid, though housenumber 80 does exist within postalcode 1066HC

In brussels/belgium a single postal code is 33% of the city, making it much less valuable.
