ADP - Maximum Users

I currently have a .adp file which we use in Access 2007 but still states it is in Access 2000 file format. This file sits on a share where a number of users will use it.

Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of users which can open this file at any one time?

Sometimes when we try to open it we get the following message:

'File is not in the correct format for a microsoft office access project'

However, this seems to be when there is 20 users with this file open & I was wondering if this was a setting somewhere that could be changed?

G'd Afternoon,
I supposed that the idea to split a database is to gain several benefits, such as Improved performance , greater availability, enhanced security etc.. Why not a FE for each one? What do you gain with a shared file?

To be honest, I didn't know you could split a database and have a front end for multiple users, but there is no way that this database in its current format can be amended. Everything I know is self taught so I am a little blind to some things that may have been easier to launch at the time.

I support the database as a favour as I wrote it a long time ago, but there is no budget or time in the plan for a re-write. Although I appreciate that something will have to be changed if the business decide to move to 2013 versions of the software.

We have currently changed the database to a .ade file to see if this helps the situation.

What we all are trying to say is that you need to give a copy of your access file for each on of your users. No need to change a single line of code.
As Pat said, Best practice is to give each user a copy of the adp/ade file so they have their own.
