I am looking to expand out of the Access Capsule(Template). Does anyone have any advice on good reference books for SQL Code and VBA Code for the Beginner to the Intermediate. Or possibly any good sites for On-Line training?

Thanks Pat, for the extensive listing of books. Now which book do I begin with?

In your opinion, do you need to know the VBA Code to master Access? Or is is best to now the SQL language to get out of the box, in order to do more. I would probably consider myself as intermediate. I know how to create switchboards, forms with dropdown lists etc., and also know relational database design.

I am a programmer on the AS/400, using the RPG language, so I know the programming standards/techniques. I am hampered a little trying to get results, like making many queries to group, sum, calculate data in order to place it on a report. I am used to creating 1 program to obtain all the results/grouping/calculations I am needing to place on a report.

I am not that familiar with SQL (or VBA), so would learning that be a great benefit for be to create better and more detailed queries?

How did you get started? Did you learn by doing or did you take some classes?

My work is gearing me towards doing more with this application in order to interface with our AS/400. Since you are so knowledgeable, what would be the best avenue for me to take?

Thanks again for your time !!
