ALAS! No way to ACCESS !!

Dear Freinds,

I have a MS-ACCESS 2003 mdb located in a pc (as a server) and that mdb is shared with other users via a (mdw shortcut ) . The mdw has 4 groups (Admins ,Full data users, Read-only Users and users) . The shared mdb was going on properly and what I was afraid of is that when someone access the mdb directly (without the shortcut) or with the default Access Admin User he’ll get it ! so I changed the permission of the “Admin” user in my mdw to NO PERMISSION at all . Since then, all the users (in all my mdw groups) couldn’t access the mdb even directly and each one face with the error :
“You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <database path> . Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you”.I’ve printed the “Groups & users” of my mdw (through Tools>Security>WG Admin. And join it then Tools>Security>User & Group accounts >Print Users and Groups ) . I noticed that all users in all groups , they belong to their specific ones + the “Users” group which hasn’t any permission !!??
Any ideas , please ?

I believe this is a Windows permission issue, not Access permissions.

We also assume that you created a new mdw group and did not use System.mdw

Yes, I made a new work group with a specific permissions to users and located it in the database shared folder with a (system.mdw) name . Is it that make a conflict or something ?

I think it is better practice to use a name other than System.mdw.

Too often people use the system.mdw and manage to screw all otherdatabases

I have a couple of documents related to security mainly 97 and 2000 but I would think that most would apply to 2003 as well
