All Controls in Report Design Not Visible (missing)

I have a user who is editting a report in MS Access and when they go into the design of the report, the entire report is blank - just a blank white screen. When they go to preview the report, all controls on the report are visible as well as the data.

When in design mode, the screen is blank and the controls are not visible, but if you do a CTRL+A, it selects all the controls. You can see the selection boxes around each control but you can't actually see the control. You can't see label captions, borders, even the grid is not visible.

Has any one seen this before? The user is using CITRIX to access the database, but even if the user goes directly to the CITRIX server machine and opens Access there without going through CITRIX, he encounters the same problem. No other problems anywhere else in the application occur.

I appreciate any insite!!!

I've seen this happen if you have a parent form already open (usually in design mode) and you try to open one of subform; you would get that blank white screen.

Is that the case?

As regular readers will know, I'm green. But I would like to know if your user is editing a copy of the front end or trying to edit a commonly accessed database on a server?

If they are editing a copy of the FE, suggest they request whatever report they want from the administrator (you?). If they are tackling a Beck End or network database report, maybe you ought to rethink your structure.

From my own experience of formatting things (slight) and assuming that neither of the above possibilities are relevant, I would advise the user to log off and log on just to make sure that the problem outlined by Banana is not the cause of the difficulties.

Just re-rad your original post nd it does sound like the user is editing a shared database on the back end(?). Maybe others have the same database open simultaneously?

Keith and Banana,

Thanks for the replies.

This is actually a separate front end database (that connects to a separate database where the data is on another server). There are not multiple users of this database. Each user has their own copy of the front end are editting their own reports on that front end.

As far as a parent form being opened. They definitely have other forms open (in View mode, not design mode), but no other reports are open and the reports do not have sub reports either. Incidentally, I have seen the "white" screen you are talking about, but that is not the case here.

Any other ideas?
