That's really brilliant never heard that explanation before...

I regard myself as intelligent but I tend to stear clear of talking about special relativity ... I think unless you understand the mathematics your never going to be coherent.

I was thinking the same. This stuff is far beyond anything I have studied and thus I have little knowledge on the topic, but it is sure making for an interesting read.
 
The really interesting thing to know about Relativity is that there is a single measurement that is observed the same for both sides when two frames of reference interact. Kinetic Energy, Mass and even Time are affected by which frame makes the observation but one value standard alone is shared by both frames.

Momentum = Mass x Velocity. This is the most basic of all measurements, Momentum really is the bottom line of the Universe. The perception of Mass and Velocity will vary for each side but not Momentum.
