We are currently using Access 2003, but will be upgrading to 2007. I just don't know when the upgrade will take place, but I suspect it will be a few months from now. I want to develop an application which will be delivered to our end users as a runtime. The application is for a fairly long questionnaire, but there will be only one report.

Since I don't know when our software will be updated and I want to get the application started, is there any reason I can't start the process in 2003 and then convert and complete it after our upgrade? Would I be causing myself more trouble than it's worth?

Your advice is appreciated.

Nope, no reason to not start. You will have to test to see what may need changing in 2007 when you get there but most things work okay anyway. It all depends on what you are using as to whether there are any problems. I've about 10 databases that were in 2003 format and we'll be moving to 2007 and I found relatively few problems with them in 2007. There are some fixes involved but that is to be expected in any upgrade.

I would just not create custom menus at this point as the change to the Ribbon makes those a bit hard to deal with (not impossible but a bit of a pain).

Thanks! I am relieved to be able to get started.
