I am new to databases as you may of seen if you have seen some of my other posts. I have seen this done on a database that is used in my school. When the user double clicks on the access file it opens but it doesn't open like a normally access database, it opens up and shows the switchboard straight away and also hides the dialog box that lets you view the design of everything, so it stops you from seeing the information apart from through the front end that you provide.

Do any one have any idea how do to this, as i have said i have seen it done in school but the person who created the database has now left and I'm a little stuck.

Thanks in advanced!

This is done by changing the start up options in of the database. Use the F1 function of the DB and search for start up options. It will show you how to hide the objects menu as well as pop up splashscreen and or switchboard.

Reading about it would be much better than me writting out each step by step.

Good luck,

If you go to Tools then Startup then goto Display form/page find your openning form and place it in the box then untick Display Database Window. If you need to by pass the openning screen you need to click once on your Database then holding shift double click.

Hope this helps if not get back in touch and i will help you some more.

Alastair

No problem, I understand when you know what you want, you ask that stupid cat and he returns with answers that has nothing to do with that you wanted. I do feel your pain.

Good luck!
